Care Groups, the Small Groups at Concord

Care groups started many years ago at Concord. To churches that use care groups, they become the life-blood of a vibrant, growing church. In these small groups, everyone has the opportunity to grow deeper in their faith and to share that growth in everyday life both inside and outside the church. These are a few we are offering this year.  Please contact the church office at (618) 939-7116 if you are interested in joining one of these groups.

Marriage

The Marriage care group meets monthly in the homes of participant families on a rotating basis.  We first eat together and then study together using God’s word and other materials with a focus on marriage.  We have used Family Life materials many times.  After studying, we have a time of prayer for those whom the Lord has put on the hearts of members of the group. The main focus of our care group is to learn and put into action how our marriages may be more like God wants them to be.

Faith & Fellowship

This group meets on the first Sunday afternoon of the month at 4:30 pm for fellowship, discussion, and fun.  Join us to deepen relationships and support one another as we live out our faith.

Men’s Breakfast

Join the men of Concord for breakfast and fellowship at 7:30 am at the church on the last Saturday of the month.  Being a godly man is hard work.  We gather together to deepen our walk with God, build godly friendships, and take leadership in our lives.  Come for times of camaraderie and conviction, as we support each other in standing for God in the midst of a fallen world.

Monday Night Ladies’ Study

Open to all women, we meet twice a month at Burger King @ 6:30 pm (where there is a play land for children).  We will be reading and studying the book by Lysa Terkuerst, “What Happens When Women Walk in Faith”. New members are always welcome, and we also have a private Facebook page where we communicate and try to post encouraging, funny things about life.  Our goal is to TRULY lift each other up in God's Word and to have open, honest, and fun fellowship!

Tuesday Afternoon Women’s Group

This group of women meet on Tuesdays in the church conference room from 12:30-2:30 pm. We alternate between Old Testament and New Testament books and will be studying the book of James next and then 2 Kings.

Wednesday Morning Ladies’ Group

This group meets every Wednesday at Concord from 9:00-10:00 am except on the first Wednesday of each month, when the group meets at the Bean Tree Café for prayer and breakfast.  The group is studying “Judges, Daniel, & Josepha bible study by Tim Keller.  We meet to encourage one another and lift each other up using God’s Word as our guide.

Friday Morning Ladies’ Group

This group meets every Friday of the month at the leader's home from 8:30-9:45 am. We are currently reviewing Beth Moore's workbook “Living beyond Yourself:  Exploring the Fruit of the Spirit”.  We meet to encourage one another and lift each other up using God’s Word as our guide.

Fellowship of Scripture and Song

The Fellowship of Scripture and Song is an open fellowship fo those who want to study God's Word, starting with the book of John.  We also sing praises and hymns by request and pray for one another.  the fellowship meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursday evenings from 7:00-8:30 pm.

Digging Deeper

This group meets on the second and fourth Sundays of each month at 6:30 pm and typically lasts until 8:00 or 8:30.  Meeting locations move around to homes of those who volunteer to host.  The group views and discusses various videos by Ray Vander Laan entitled, “That the World May Know”.  The archaeological discoveries revealed in this 12-volume series provide even more reason to believe the Bible. More importantly, these videos, filmed in Israel and the Middle East where Bible events actually took place, weave together historical, cultural, and geographical contexts to reveal keen insights into how people in biblical times understood God’s and Jesus’ teaching.

Grief Support

Led by Pastors Andrew Cheatham and Will Hesterberg, this group provides support to people facing the pain and sadness of losing someone close to you. Through fellowship and study, we seek spiritual comfort and scriptural encouragement in processing our loss and finding peace in Christ.  Grief Share meets on the second and fourth Friday of the month at 10:30 am in the church conference room.
